Animating the Collection

Eight images in an outdoor gallery, inspired by artworks that are held in the art collection at National Coal Mining Museum England. The museum has a wonderful and extensive collection of mining themed art work and they are passionate about finding new and exciting ways of sharing it with their community.

We took a selection of original artworks into local schools for children to enjoy and experience. The children created their own versions of these works. Elements of their many drawings were then woven into each of the eight artworks.

Each artwork is interactive and comes ‘alive’ through augmented reality when viewed through the Artivive App. We developed and delivered the project in collaboration with children from Horbury and Middlestown Primary Schools, with the support of the Learning and Collections Team at the Museum.
